Don’t Wait for Others to Help, Get in There Yourself

If you see somebody in need, get in there and help if you can. Research shows that people are more likely to ignore someone in need if they see others doing the same. Don’t fall into that trap—get in there! Think you’re not qualified to help? That could be true on some levels in complicated emergencies, but there’s almost always something you can do to help. For example, take a car accident: Even if you have no first aid training, you could still be there to just comfort and reassure somebody while you wait for more qualified help to arrive. That is a huge thing to do for somebody who is suffering.
